A new report ‘Delivering economic growth and nature recovery: an independent review of Defra’s regulatory landscape’ has called for greater regulatory flexibility. The recommendations include the acceleration of sensible, risk-based decisions to support net-zero and circular economy priorities. Examples the report gives include the development of low carbon industrial infrastructure and for ensuring remediated soil is not unnecessarily categorised as waste.
